Review of 2020

A Purrfect Friend began helping cats in Preston and the surrounding areas in July 2020. We are a group of volunteers who are passionate about what we do. Thankfully, all the trustees, fundraisers, and fosterers have years of experience with a cat rescue which gave us a head start.

Since we started, 66 cats have been treated by Withy Grove vets at our request.  It does mean that we have had to find a lot of money (the vets bills are averaging £1600 per month) and I am amazed to report that our income in those 6 months has amounted to over £15000. We have been unable to fundraise in the usual ways, so I can only thank emphatically everyone who has given money and items to sell. There has been a lot of “thinking outside the box”, from setting up a table outside homes, an online photographic cat show and use of any online selling means that we can.

We envisage quite a lot of expenditure in the coming months as we secure more foster pens to use so that we can bring in many more cats that need a permanent loving home. Our motto for the last few weeks has been to keep doing what we are doing, but we would dearly love more people to come forward to help us. We have to stay safe during this pandemic, so online selling is a pretty easy way to do that. We have plenty of items waiting to be listed (or if you have things yourself you would be willing to sell) and you would like to give it a go, then please do get in touch.

We would also like to hear from anyone who would like to do our Facebook  and Instagram pages. If you can help then please do get in touch.

It’s not been the easiest 6 months, but I am so grateful to everyone who has contributed to our cause when every charity is asking for help and support.  Many many people have donated money to us and every penny is appreciated.
